Tell-a-Friend©
A poem from the book “Touching Hearts

Have you a friend who, in time of need or trouble, will unfailingly be there for you with an attentive ear, a caring heart, and a helping hand?  If this is your privilege, how happy is your lot!

Yet, as Christians, think of the unimaginably greater blessing that is ours!  Through the merits of Jesus Christ, we can be guaranteed an audience with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords – anytime, anywhere.  No earthly monarch could or would grant such a liberty.

Just think – with God there are no out-of-office auto-replies; we won’t be passed to a deputy or aide; and God will never be found absent, at rest, asleep, unavailable or to busy to hear us when we come in faith to Him.  As the poem rightly states, we can pray to God anytime, anywhere.

What greater Person, with what greater power, could grant us any greater privilege?  Do we, though, adequately avail of such a privilege.  Have YOU prayed today?
Anytime, Anywhere
At truly anytime, and equally anywhere
I can lift my voice to the Lord in prayer,
Yes, whatever the moment, or whatever the place
I boldly can come to the throne of grace;
And whether in a crowd, or completely alone
I can, to the Father, make my every need known;
For whether with spoken word, or inaudibly,
I confidently can say “Thou God hearest me.”

Whenever I need courage to face some daunting task,
I can come to the One who invites us to “Ask,”

And when I crave the strength not found in myself,
I know God will provide, according to His boundless wealth;

And should someday painful illness lay my body low
Then, closer than a brother, His friendship I know,

Where, if too weak e’en to speak, or to lift up mine eyes,
He will attend to, hear and answer my heart’s silent cries.

I may ne’er enter the palace of an earthly king,
Yet how great is my privilege, I my petitions can bring
To the royal courts of the heavenly one,
The way now made open through the blood of His Son,

And open to all, whate’er their colour, class or race,
Who approach in Christ’s merits, trusting in God’s grace,
Having come to the cross, and found so great salvation,
And trusting now for prayer answers beyond all expectation.

Where shall I go from his Spirit, or from His presence flee?

Neither to the heights of heaven, nor in the deepest sea:
Lord, you are ever present, wherever I may be,
And you know and you care intimately about me;

Yes, your all-seeing eyes are in every place,
That you may succour, strengthen and give abundant grace,
So, faithful Lord, I thank you for always being there,
My dearest friend I can call on – anytime, anywhere.
