Able
A poem from the book “Touching Hearts

How many regular Bible readers aren’t aware that nothing is too hard for God, and that all things are possible with Him?  We cherish these verses, we quote them often, and assert that we believe them.  Yet, in all honesty, do we not sometimes need to pray “Lord, I believe, help thou my unbelief.”

It is to bolster and strengthen our often weak and questioning faith that this poem is sent forth as a stirring antidote.  And, on what better foundation could such a poem be built that the truth that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.

Ponder how He spoke the earth and universe into existence from sheer nothingness.  Ponder His countless miracles recorded in scripture.  Ponder His mercy, and the perfection of His character.  He cannot lie, so why need you doubt His ability to do just as He has promised?.

As you read this poem, rejoice that God is able to forgive, to save, to strengthen, to succour, to pour out His grace, to keep and preserve, and ultimately to glorify.  Whatever situation you face today, may you be enabled to boldly pronounce over it “GOD IS ABLE!”

Our God is able to do exceeding abundantly
Above all we ask or think, so great His sufficiency;
Everything He has promised, He is able to do,
And He is able to make all grace abound towards you.

The Christian thus can know victory, and do all things
In the strength reliance on, and faith in Christ, brings;
And He is able to succour, in sore temptation's hour,

For He Himself has faced too the mighty tempter's power.

And Jesus, to the uttermost, is able to save,

Having triumphed over sin, death, hell and the grave -
At God's right hand now exalted, fore'er to intercede
For those who seek Him as Saviour, acknowledging their need.

For, as the Lamb of God, He can set sinners free,

With His timeless invitation still "Come unto me;"
And His blood can cleanse sin stains of the deepest dye,
Fitting even the foulest for mansions in the sky.

And no man shall be able to pluck them from God's hand,

For He is able to ensure that faultless they stand,
And naught present or future,howe'er powerful and great

From God's love in Christ, shall ever them separate.

But tell me, dear reader, is it well with your soul?
And have you yielded your life to the Master's control?
If not, come at once now to Jesus - no longer hesitate,
And accept God's offer of mercy, ere it be too late.
